It makes you feel full, and it helps the kidneys.
When you give away weight, you secrete some toxic substances, and the kidneys are more tired than usual. Water helps them do their jobs easily.
Water also all helps in metabolizing fat which the body has stored. Water may be one of the most important pieces in the weight-loss puzzle. It helps decrease water retention, because it stimulates the kidneys. Individuals that want to lose weight should drink one glass of water in addition to the eight glasses which are universally suggested, for every 25 pounds that they want to lose.
Tip #1: Get a 32 oz. or 64 oz. refillable container:
You can find these little babies for very cheap at almost any discount or sporting goods store and they come in all kinds of cool designs.
Tip #2: Add a little lemon or lime:
To your mega-container, add a squeeze or two of lemon or lime. These citrus fruits act as natural diuretics, and their refreshing taste makes the water go down that much easier.
Tip #3: Eat lower sodium foods:
Sodium and water weight go hand-in-hand. When you drink more water, your body is freed to release some of its sodium stores.
Tip #4: Try a natural diuretic:
Diuretics help your body flush water weight. But prescription diuretics can be rather harsh on your system and often cause intense diarrhea. Try a natural diuretic such as an herbal-based one for a gentler, healthier experience of forcing that excess water out of your body.
Tip #5: Sprinkle in some exercise:
Yes, that weight loss panacea, exercise, comes in handy for helping you to lose water weight, too. Bonus tip: choose exercises that work the areas of your body (e.g., wrists or ankles) that need the most help in losing water.

Water is an essential component to nearly every process in the body. No matter what, you will be healthier over all if you are adequately hydrated. Since it is such a simple, yet often overlooked step, it is given as the first step in any program where becoming healthier is the goal.
There’s no trick to it really, your body needs water. If you’re going to be trying to lose weight, the benefits of adequate hydration can only help you. There is no downside to drinking water unless you are a competitive bodybuilder trying to get to 4-5% bodyfat for a few hours while you’re on stage at a competition (and even they start chugging water down as soon as they get off stage to re-hydrate).
Ok here it is:::
On top of drinking plenty of water throughout the day, IF you drink it AFTER your meals, it will help you feel full. But it must be AFTER.
How? People never think of this. But when you’re hungry, you start to eat, and sometimes people overeat because the food doesn’t start hitting our stomach and signaling our brain for up to 15 minutes or so. Most of us eat in less than 10 minutes. Therefore, by the time we finish, some of us are still hungry and make the mistake of eating more. However, if you finish, and drink a ful glass of water…IT AIDS IN PUSHING YOUR FOOD DOWN FASTER, therefore you feel more full within about 2 minutes of drinking it. I have done this before, and it does make a difference. Your food starts to hit your stomach a little sooner. Plus, it keeps you MORE full because NOW your stomach has to “get thru all of the water” to digest the food haha. You didn’t make it easy. It has to seperate the two Therefore, it takes longer. Makes sense huh? I know I just made your lightbulb go off
water can be really good for weight loss. But obviously you cannot expect to lose a lot of weight just by drinking enough water. You also need to follow a lot of other things like healthy eating, physical exercise, a good weight loss plan etc. to lose weight and stay in shape.
However drinking sufficient water can be really helpful. Here are some good tips to drink sufficient water everyday: http://simple-fix.blogspot.com/2008/11/easy-tips-to-drink-more-water-daily.html
I personally find that increasing my water intake does leave me less hungry. Not so much as ‘filling me up’ before meals, but keeping me well hydrated so I am just not as hungry. Also, (this might be TMI), my bowels move on a much more regular basis So all the water contributes to a flat tummy and not as much bloating.
Its not a myth, water helps flush out the toxins in your body, helps flush out the sodium that can make you retain water hence gain weight. Water along with diet and exercise is the right way to go. 64oz a day is what is recommended.
