High blood pressure may seem like a minor inconvenience, but we shouldn’t downplay its dangers. It is directly or indirectly responsible for about 35,000 deaths in North America every year. About four million Canadians suffer from high blood pressure at varying degrees. The problem with high blood pressure, or hypertension, is that major warning signs may not appear until the disorder is advanced.

Physicians use a device called a sphygmomanometer to determine whether the blood pressure is high, low or normal. Two numbers are superimposed with the highest on top-120/80. The larger number gives the pressure when the heart beats, the systolic pressure; the smaller number gives the pressure when the heart is at rest, the diastolic pressure. The average blood pressure range is about 120/80 for men and is slightly lower for women.

Early visible signs of hypertension include dizziness, fatigue, headaches, insomnia and nervousness. Frequent temporary increases in blood pressure may also be an indicator. Later symptoms can include myocardial infarction, senility, brain haemorrhage and paralysis. If none of these visible signs is present, the only way to find out if you have high blood pressure is to have it monitored regularly.

An increase in the thickness of blood is one of the many reasons for high blood pressure. It is also caused by:

· An increase in peripheral resistance–the blood vessels are narrower.

· A decrease in blood vessel elasticity–they’re not as flexible as they should be.

· A vasoconstriction (narrowing of the arteries) generally caused by plaque on the artery wall.

· Genetic predisposition/heredity.

Many of these factors are controllable with supplementation and lifestyle. It’s best to take preventative steps right now.

Treating High Blood Pressure

Drink one and a half to two litres of pure water daily, more if you can. Increased hydration will help thin the blood. It’s fascinating that conventional physicians still recommend diuretics for patients with hypertension, a measure which will reduce the amount of water in the body and make the blood even thicker!

Adopt a diet that is high in plant-based foods. Legumes, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains will supply abundant amounts of roughage and protective phytonutrients, many of which are involved in controlling cholesterol or dilating arteries. Should animal-based foods be consumed, these should be low in fat and organically/humanely raised whenever possible. Eggs are also a good source of both proteins and lecithin’s.

It is important to consume one or two tablespoons of cold-pressed vegetable oils daily. Ideally, these should give you both the omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, as well as oleic acid. Flax seed oil is an excellent choice and there are now oil blends that provide a combination of these good fats. Of course, avoid fried, saturated and hydrogenated fats as much as possible.

If you want to spread something on your food, blend one part butter with one part cold-pressed oil, such as olive or flax seed oil. This mixture will stay soft, even in the fridge. Do not heat this butter/oil blend and keep it refrigerated.

Certain substances can also have a negative effect on blood pressure. These include refined sugar, alcohol, caffeine and refined salt (regular table salt). Use Celtic salt or coarse sea salt instead. Finally incorporating Alistrol into your diet will significantly lower your hypertension and also provide health benefits to your heart and arteries. For more information, please visit www.ALISTROL.com today!!!

Supporting Heart Health

Several herbs are useful in treating hypertension. Garlic promotes positive vascular changes and blood lipid (fat) levels. It also reduces blood pressure so it should be part of the daily diet, either raw, fresh or in a good quality supplement like Alistrol.

Ginkgo biloba counteracts one cause of hypertension: the narrowing of blood vessels. It works by dilating or opening up the blood vessels and improving blood flow.

Hawthorn is one of the most common herbs used for high blood pressure. Even though its action on blood pressure is probably indirect, traditional use and clinical studies have demonstrated that hawthorn does, in fact, lead to lower blood pressure.

Magnesium plays an important role in dilating blood vessels. In one Japanese study, magnesium intake was singled out as the most important dietary factor for controlling blood pressure. Taking 600 milligrams of magnesium daily will have a favourable effect on hypertension.

Potassium supplementation has been shown to help patients with hypertension, especially if they are on diuretic medication. Take 200-300 milligrams daily.

I have recommended vitamin E with garlic to my hypersensitive patients and produced excellent results. The rationale is simple: since more viscous blood doesn’t flow well, it can increase blood pressure. And since most people with hypertension have somewhat “thicker” blood, vitamin E’s blood-thinning effect should help. Start with 100–200 international units (IU) daily for two or three weeks. Then increase to 400 IU daily. Some people may need more as recommended by their health professional.

Exercise also helps reduce blood pressure by improving the heart’s ability to pump blood and reducing blood lipids. Exercise should be undertaken gradually, taking your present level of health into consideration. Remember that over 80 per cent of patients can be cured of high blood pressure by changing diet and lifestyle. It is important to be proactive and take control of your health. Visit www.ALISTROL.com to gain further insight and information about the natural way to deal with hypertension.

Omega 3 capsules serve as one of the most effective means to supplement your daily need’s of omega 3 fatty acids. Find out the expert facts and the precautions you need take to find the best omega 3 supplements.

Omega 3 capsules play an effective role in preventing coronary heart disease; when they are taken regularly as dietary supplement. The amazing health benefits on the heart of the two important omega 3 fatty acids — DHA and EPA have been clearly evidenced in research.

They help to improve the level of good HDL cholesterol in the bloodstream, while at the same time lowering triglycerides. This action of Omega 3 capsules of lowering the triglyceride levels helps them immensely who are suffering from coronary heart disease; as one of the symptoms and its precursor is high triglyceride levels.

Health experts are of the opinion that good HDL cholesterol helps in removing the bad LDL cholesterol from our bloodstream. This action helps to prevent the arteries from getting blocked, thereby safeguarding from atherosclerosis.

Therefore, we can clearly see that the right omega 3 supplementation through the daily intake of Omega 3 capsules, can go a long way and prove very effective in keeping heart diseases away and providing safety against stroke.

Besides the heart, our brain is also a big beneficiary of EPA and DHA fatty acids that Omega 3 capsules contain. In fact, around 30% of our brain mass is composed of DHA. DHA is not produced by the body and must be supplemented from food sources such as green leafy vegetables, fatty fish or Omega 3 supplements.

Research suggests that when the level of DHA in the blood was increased using omega 3 supplements, a significant improvement was seen in the patient’s suffering from symptoms of attention deficit disorder and mild depression.

Omega 3 fatty acids play a key role in brain health. They rebuild and maintain the brain cells and keep them healthy and optimally functioning. Omega 3 capsules of fish oil reduce the need to take anti-inflammatory drugs, as fish oil is a natural anti-inflammatory. This is very beneficial for arthritis patients.

But care should be taken in case you’re taking blood thinners such as aspirin on medical prescription. Fish oil is a natural blood thinner, so you should consult your doctor before you add fish oil Omega 3 capsules in your health regimen, as too many blood thinning medications might lead to adverse health consequences.

Make sure to purchase only molecularly distilled or “pharmaceutical grade” fish oil in high-quality omega 3 capsules. Fish oil is most readily assimilated and used by our human body and that is the reason why it is used in most of the high quality Omega 3 supplements.

Molecular distillation is the process of removing impurities and toxins from the fish oil, which is then encapsulated into supplements. It is essential for the product’s safety, effectiveness and purity. Unfortunately, due to the actions of mankind, most of the seas and oceans are highly contaminated. For example, Atlantic Ocean contains one of the highest levels of contaminants.

Hoki fish is used in the most high quality Omega 3 supplements. It is found natively in the cleanest waters of the southern seas of New Zealand and is naturally high in DHA and EPA Omega 3 fatty acids. It contains the lowest amount of mercury contamination as it is harvested in the area that is regulated and protected by the government of New Zealand.

Omega 3 supplements derived from plant-based sources such as flaxseed oil do not contain EPA and DHA fatty acids, but contain Omega 3s in the form of ALA. This form of ALA has to be converted into DHA and EPA by the body before it can be used by the heart, brain and other organs. This is the reason why medical experts recommend using omega 3 capsules of fish oil to supplement our daily needs of omega 3 fatty acids.

Vijay K Raisinghani is a Natural Healthcare Expert and a passionate advocate of Omega 3 Fish oils for a healthy mind and body. His website http://www.your-omega3-fish-oil-guide.com provides a wealth of information on what works and what doesn’t work in Omega 3 fish oils to achieve a young, vibrant and robust health.

Falls can be very serious

Ø Falls are the leading cause of both unintentional injury and death in persons 65 and over.

Ø Falls are the number one reason for admission to a nursing home.

Ø One third of all people over 65 fall at least once a year. Half of those who fall do so repeatedly.

Ø Almost all fractures sustained by seniors are the result of a fall.

Ø Falls are the most common cause of injuries, emergency room visits and hospital admissions for trauma.

Ø Half of all seniors who fall in their home and require hospitalization will go straight from the hospital to a nursing home.

Ø Falls cost over $20 Billion in 1998 and are estimated to cost over $30 Billion by the year 2020.

Ø Up to 50% of falls are preventable.

How to find out if you have a problem

The first thing you should do is to see a physician who performs computerized balance screening. Only a licensed physician is qualified to evaluate your balance and your risk of falling.

Falls risk can be evaluated in several ways, but some physicians now offer a computerized balance test called CAPS that uses normative data established by NASA. This simple test, which takes only 60 seconds, measures your balance and compares your score to the scores of other people your age and stature. In our office, there is no charge for the CAPS screening test, which we perform routinely as a community service.

What if your CAPS score is abnormal

If your CAPS score is abnormal, don’t be alarmed. Everyone has a problem with balance at some point in their life. Balance problems can be caused by such simple things as flu, lack of sleep, effect of medications, etc. In such cases the problem will resolve itself without medical intervention.

But sometimes when a patient shows signs of a balance disorder, the reason may not be immediately apparent. In such cases, it’s important to find out what is causing the problem.

Evaluating your balance problem

In our office, we will obtain a necessary medical history from you, check your visual acuity and perform a simple hearing test. We will do an evaluation that will include checking your reflexes, sensation, muscle strength and tone, coordination, gait, stance, etc. Then we will do a series of simple, non-invasive balance tests, using the sensitive CAPS™ force platform and additional special software. We will also look for signs of nystagmus, a rapid, jerky movement of the eyes that often indicates the presence of a balance disorder.

What happens next

Once we make a diagnosis, we will decide what treatment is best for you. In most cases, we will perform gait and/or balance/vestibular therapy, to which almost all patients respond very well. We will additionally review ankle, knee and hip strategies to incorporate better balance as well as to avoid falls in the first place. Manipulations may be utilized when appropriate to change the way joints give information to your brain about your body’s position in space.

It may be fun to spin around and fall when you’re very young… But falls can have
serious consequences for older adults

Why get your balance checked?

A balance screening helps us as physicians identify patients who may be at an increased risk of falling, and falls can often have disastrous results, particularly for older patients. Falls can result in broken hips, other fractures, head trauma and other serious injuries – even death.

There are also other important reasons. Balance problems can be the first sign of other health problems such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, traumatic injuries and many others, so identifying patients with abnormal balance can be invaluable in the detection of other serious conditions.

We now recognize that older people often do not know when they have a balance problem or are at increased risk of falling. Since they do not know, they do not complain to their physician. Because the patient does not complain, the physician does not investigate. The tragic result is often that nothing is done until a fall has already occurred.

This is why we now stress the importance of early identification of balance problems.

The most important part of reducing the risk of falls is always identification,
because … before you can help prevent a fall, you first have to find out who is at risk of falling

If you suffer from vertigo/dizziness/balance loss, Dr. Scopelliti offers a no charge, no obligation free consultation to discuss your problem, ($75 value). Dr. Scopelliti’s office can be reached at (732) 229-5250 to arrange your complimentary consultation. Lastly we have a wealth of information updated weekly on the web at www.dcneuro.net.

Dr. Scopelliti has over 1000 hours in postdoctoral neurology, and is a board certified chiropractic neurologist, practicing at the 279 Professional Arts Bldg at the rear of Monmouth Medical Center, in Long Branch, NJ. He is also currently the president of the NJ Chiropractic Council on Neurology; www.dcneuro.info. With over twenty years of practice, ten of those years specializing in neurology, his office focuses on the drug free management of patients with vertigo, dizziness, balance loss, presyncope, dystonia, various stages of coma, and many other neurologic as well as behavioral and cognitive disorders. Dr. Scopelliti is an author and lecturer of postdoctoral neurology, and has also written several software applications for vestibular rehabilitation; www.dcneuro.biz.
There could be n number of factors giving way to hypertension. Although some of its causes are the complications that are quite evident; but most of the times it is very difficult to track exact cause of hypertension.

Medical evidences suggest that in case of ninety percent cases knowing the exact cause seems impossible. That’s why most of the time folks get to know about their affliction with hypertension very late. Till then this quiet killer would do enough damage to your body.

Two very common causes are nephrological abnormality or dysfunctions and arterial constriction or blockages. Both of these causes make hindrance in the smooth flow of blood in arteries making heart to pump out blood by exerting more force thus leading to a surge in pressure on the flowing blood. Nephrological disorder based hypertension is known as renal hypertension.

There could be various other reasons such as excess deposition of cholesterol. In fact high level of cholesterol happens to be a major facilitator of hypertension. This excess of lipoprotein results in either narrowing of arteries or plaque formation. Both of these phenomenons perturb normal movement of blood in arteries compelling heart to impose a little extra pressure over the outgoing blood. This is the way hypertension develops among obese and bulky people. If not checked on time, it may cause stroke. Diabetics are very much susceptible to this type of high blood pressure.

Diabetics could fall prey to hypertension because of one more reason other than high cholesterol. Since diabetics suffer from high blood sugar level, their blood gets thickened due to excess of sugar molecules in blood. Because of this, thickening blood can’t keep up with normal pace of flow making heart to put extra pressure on blood flow and the result is occurrence of high blood pressure. Even normal people with extra intake of sugar and rich diet could suffer from hypertension due to this reason.

Inheritance happens to be a vital cause of hypertension. Going by the fact around twenty five percent of hypertension patients round the globe develop this disease because of inheritance.

Congenital aorta disorder is another major cause of hypertension. Higher catabolic and anabolic reaction rate also contribute to the malady.

There could other life style reasons such as excessive drinking and smoking leading to high blood pressure. Even excess of caffeine could result in high blood pressure.

Technology has been advancing at the speed of light. Sit has created a great many devices and inventions that are changing the lifestyles and the whole world today. From the invention of abacus to till date technology has advanced with a commendable pace. Now our lives are a lot easier as compared to the lives we had a decade before this is because the everyday inventions of technology. We are blessed with many inventions of technology through time. Mobilnih is one such invention.

Before was time when mobilnih was a new invention. It was considered to be a luxury. Only rich people could afford a mobilnih. At that time, mobilnih came in the simplest of shapes and ugliest of faces. But now, as the time has changed, this invention has become a need of time when before it was a luxury. Now you can buy cheapest of mobiles having extensive bundles of applications and stuff to do. Now this is so common that a man may own more than two mobilnih at a time. The world has changed a lot. Now this invention, which was considered to be only for rich class people, is reachable for all people around the world. It has surely become a blessing for people.

But there is a great difference in the blessings that nature bestows upon us and the blessings that are given by technology. The blessings that are bestowed upon us by nature do not have any disadvantages but the blessings that are offered to us by technology have their drawback.

From a research that took place in the year of 2001, that the zracenje mobilnih can cause serious health problems. It has quite been an issue that these zracenje are very harmful and can cause some very dangerous diseases. A lot research is then done upon this subject and it has been figured out that continuous exposure to zracenje mobilnih may lead to fatal diseases like cancers in a human. This is obviously very dangerous. The frequent use of this gadget may harm you a lot. The electromagnetic rays that are produced through this device are quite harmful for brain and can also damage other vital organs of our body.

As these phones now come with mp3 player and radio functions with them, mostly people glue the headphones on their ears all day and listen to songs. This is dangerous. The frequent use of such applications can cause hearing damage and disabilities. Constant contact of zracenje mobilnih can easily dizziness, nausea, headache, eye defects or even cause tiredness. It can also damage the reproductive organs.

Ischemic heart disease is defined as decreased blood flow to the heart due to narrowed coronary arteries. The obstruction results from cholesterol deposits sticking to the artery wall, interrupting the flow of blood to the heart. The deposits harden causing hardening of the arteries. This is called atherosclerosis, which is a medical term sometimes interchanged with arteriosclerosis. Both have the same affect, whereby both impede blood flow to the heart.

Arteriosclerosis, or plaque build up, is common factor in Ischemic heart disease. Plaque, a result of high cholesterol and triglycerides levels, builds up in the vessels that feed the heart causing blockage to occur. This interferes with blood flow to the heart and terminates in heart attack symptoms to occur. The patient may exhibit signs ranging from shortness of breath to irregular heartbeats, and chest pain. Sometimes, there are no symptoms due to damage to the nerves that surround the heart due to heart disease.

As time passes, plaque deposits narrow the arteries causing efficient blood flow, which can also lead to the development of a type of Ischemic heart disease called angina. Angina Pectoris, or strangling, is chest pain caused by lack of oxygen to the heart due to poor blood supply. This puts the patient at extremely high risk for heart attack and cardiac arrhythmia.

People who are at risk for ischemic heart disease most likely have a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. The risks, in most instances, can be alleviated or eliminated altogether by drastic changes in lifestyle such as losing weight and stopping smoking. While these changes may reduce risks, they do not necessarily cure ischemic heart disease that is already present. If the person has had a previous heart attack, they have an increased for having another heart attack within 5 years. Regular visits with your physician to monitor for any changes in the patient’s condition will alert the physician to any potential problems that may crop up and slow down the rate of disease progression.

The good news about ischemic heart disease is it can be prevented, or at least lessen it’s severity. The answer is simple but may not be easy to implement. Its not easy to change the way we have been been doing things for the past 20 to 30 years, but when you think of the alternative, change can be a good thing.

Mild cognitive impairment, (MCI), is a condition in which a person has problems with memory, language, recall and other simple activities of daily living which are severe enough to be noticeable to other people. Often times those affected are frustrated by inabilities to perform otherwise simple things that perhaps a child could easily perform. Research has shown that individuals with MCI have an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease over the next few years, especially when their main problem is memory although not everyone diagnosed with MCI goes on to develop Alzheimer’s. Although Parkinson’s is a movement disorder, areas involved in the disease are also the areas involved in MCI. It is therefore not uncommon for patients suffering with MCI to exhibit balance loss, dysequilibrium and thus increased risk for fall. Because of the overlap of these disorders, when they are recognized early, they can oftentimes be successfully managed with appropriate rehabilitation. My office has had tremendous success in managing patients with these disorders and the earlier treatment is sought, the better typically the outcome. End stage disorders invariably involve drug therapy and or live-in care due to overwhelming disability and incapacitation. Typically at the onset of these disorders, the use of a cane to assist with walking becomes necessary. This eventually progresses to a walker. Although this is good for stability, it causes the brain to work even less, thus eventually requiring advancement to a wheel chair. Due to the lack of gravitational influence from no longer weight bearing upright, this leads to even more rapid deterioration and incapacitation. Because of the severity of progression associated with these disorders, if you or a loved one seem to fit the general description of MCI, we urge you to consider coming in to see us for a consultation. We never charge for this service, and, you can also have a free balance test using state of the art computerized dynamic posturography on the same visit.

High blood pressure affects hundreds of millions of people all over the world and it’s the most common affection seen in the last few years. Furthermore, more and more people discover that they have high blood pressure each year.

If you have high blood pressure then the force with which the blood pushes against the arteries’ walls is much higher than normal. In time, this can lead to strokes, heart attacks and severe heart diseases so its important to treat high blood pressure soon before the risk of developing the mentioned above drastically increases.

The first and most important things that you need to do in order to lower your blood pressure are to change your lifestyle so that you reduce the stress and you exercise and rest more, and then to change your diet.

The diet must be changed in such way that it contains healthy foods only. First you must eliminate the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, and salt. Drinking alcohol and smoking can seriously increase your blood pressure especially if you do it for a long time.

Why should you eat less salt?

Well because salt contains large quantities of sodium, and sodium is known to have certain properties that raise the blood pressure significantly. Our bodies need sodium, but a lot of food types also contain sodium, and if we eat these foods and also put salt on them we can consume twice the normal amount of sodium needed by the body, and this excess has negative effects over our blood pressure. So the recommendation is to try too cook without salt or to use other spices that give the food a similar taste.

You should also try to eat as few foods that are rich in fats. Meat is among them, and sweets are a very rich source of fats. You can eat some from time to time, but not too often.

What can you eat?

Doctors recommend eating a lot of vegetables and fruits because they are rich in fibers and they can help the body normalize its blood pressure. Eating fruits, vegetables and other healthy foods will not only lower your blood pressure bit it will do good to your entire body and will strengthen the immune system too.

Here’s a brief list of all the aliments that are recommended if you want to lower your blood pressure: turnips, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, spinach, bananas, apricots, grapes, oranges, raisins, strawberries, hazelnuts, and fish and low-fat dairy products.

If you stick to the recommended diet you can lower your blood pressure without taking any medication and in quite a short time, but always consult a doctor before selecting a certain diet and ask him if you made the right decision.

As parents, are we willing to drug millions of our children to make them easier to manage and be more compliant in school? Though this is a bold statement, there is a lot of truth behind the intensity. It may feel natural, almost our parental duty, to give our children medication to fight off an ADHD diagnosis, however what lingers within one pill may not be so natural.

The most common medical treatment of ADHD is the use of the drug methylphenidate, also known as Ritalin. Ritalin is actually a stimulant drug that normally speeds up the activity of the nervous system. For reasons that are not entirely clear, it tends to have a calming effect on those who suffer from ADHD; possibly by increasing the activity in the area of the brain responsible for filtering out extraneous sensation. The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has given Ritalin a classification of Schedule 11 Controlled Substances.Unfortunately, this resides in the same category as cocaine, methadone, opium, and speed.

Irresponsible Misuse

These powerful and dangerous drugs have been discovered by college, high school, and even middle school campuses. The drug is becoming sociably acceptable as a party drug and even more so as a study aid. Kids who are not prescribed this powerful medication also take the drug because they say that it allows them to focus on their homework and tests. They say it ultimately makes them smarter!

Obviously, not enough of a warning has been brought to their attention or their pareants. Why wouldn’t these drugs be popular? They have nearly the exact same makeup as cocaine, but are easier and safer to find, buy, and sell.

Research

Ritalin has never been studied on children under the age of six. It’s a shocking feeling to hear that our children consume 95% of the world’s medication for this “American disease”. Why is it that the U.S. consumption of Ritalin is five times higher than the rest of the world combined? How is this drug being promoted so heavily by doctors and casually suggested by teachers to parents?

Reactions

The problem with taking Ritalin is that it does not do anything to resolve the cause of ADHD. It only masks the symptoms. Continued use of Ritalin over long periods of time has also been shown to have detrimental effects on the brain itself.

Nervousness and insomnia are the most common adverse reactions. Other reactions include hypersensitivity, anorexia, nausea, dizziness, palpitations, headache, drowsiness, blood pressure, pulse changes, tachycardia, angina, cardiac arrhythmia, abdominal pain, and weight loss.

There have been reports of Tourette’s syndrome and toxic psychosis. In children, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, weight loss during prolonged therapy, insomnia, and tachycardia may also occur.

Alternatives

Although, reactions may not be prevalent in all cases, is it really worth the risk? Chiropractic care takes advantage of the body being a natural healer. Your body’s nervous system acts like a steering wheel for the rest of the body. When it is functioning properly, the rest of your body will follow behind it.

Chiropractors locate and correct nerve system disturbances in the human body, i.e. subluxation. A subluxation occurs when two bones in the spine misalign and twist or stretch the spinal cord and nerves. The correction given by a chiropractor is a gentle movement to the bones of the head and neck. It is important as a parent to look at all treatment options before placing your child on Ritalin and chiropractic care is a great place to start.

How do herbal remedies get to their target?

Herbal compounds need to be absorbed across the wall of the digestive tract, so they have to be released from their structures (stem, root, leaf, flower or berry etc) first of all. Hot water and alcohol do some of this job for us, so that teas and tinctures are more easily absorbed than tablets and capsules, which need to be broken down physically before the active chemicals are separated from the inert matter to which they are attached.

All food and medicine passes through the liver (in the blood circulation) before it finally enters the body tissues, where it is used. Sometimes chemical compounds need help in crossing through the wall of the digestive tract in the blood stream.

Carrier chemicals can be attached to compounds and ferry them through channels in the gut lining. Hydrochloride is frequently found to be part of conventional drug names as it has this function.

Headache relief using Rosemary

The herb rosemary has been found valuable in headaches resulting from cold. A handful of this herb should be boiled in a litre of water and put in a mug. The head should be covered with a towel and the steam inhaled for as long as the patient can bear. This should be repeated till the headache is relieved.

Herbal compounds often have an advantage over synthesized chemicals in this respect, they have naturally occurring carrier chemicals already attached to them. This is what is meant by affinity. Herbs are said to have a greater affinity for the human body, like spare parts, dedicated to a particular engine made by the same manufacturer.
